View Full Version : Stitching in the air - Help please
Hi
I will be visiting the US next year and would like some advice on what equipment I can take with me to enable me to stitch on the plane. I know that scissors are a no no, and I believe that needles are also frowned upon. Anyone know any alternatives that are allowed?
Thanks

I could be wrong but this has been my experience. You Can have scissors, but they have to have a rounded tip. (Like the ones you can buy for a "pre-schooler" at most drug stores.
If you have special ones that you'd like to use pack then on your under carrage luggage. (It's fine if you can't get to them.) Same for needles! Pack some undercarrage, for later. But I have always been allowed to bring them onboard in the past.
Good luck!

Hi....
I'm just trying now to get a reply from an airline as to whether I can use a single needle onboard a plane - it is proving very difficult! As for scissors - you can buy a thread snip thingy (I think it's made by Clover) - Johnsons or any good retailer should have one. It's a disc blade that is covered on both sides so that the blade is not visible - but it cuts really well & IS plane safe.....
I'm flying on 27th September & don't hold out much hope of a reply before then!
Good luck!
