heheh well i know they are a trial and error thiing but i have a good tip..here goes
being the needle up where u want the french not to go
then over the fabraic make loop
but needle tho the loop and down fabric near to where u came up
hold needle in fabric there and pull thread till its tight against the needle and carfully pull needle tho fabric
have a go at it this way on spare fabric ur find it easy
