Bookmark backs

I was planning to make bookmarks with some aida ribbon I have, but what do you do with the backside of the bookmark? Is there any "authorised" method?

Hi
I use iron-on interfacing when I make my bookmarks, not only does it hide the threads but it makes the bookmark that bit stiffer.

I personally use some colour-cordinated felt, attached to the back with iron-on interfacing and then slip-stitched to double-secure it. If you wish to add tassels to the end of the bookmark, this is also an excellent way as it hides the top of the tassel.
